Axis Communications now offers a complete perimeter defense solution with the addition of AXIS Perimeter Defender, a scalable and flexible video analytics application for intrusion detection in the enterprise market.
Axis Communications, the market leader in network video, today announced AXIS Perimeter Defender, a video analytics application for intrusion detection that is best suited for the enterprise market. With this launch, Axis is enabling its partners to deliver a scalable and flexible perimeter defense solution. When combined with Axis network cameras, Axis network horn speakers and third party video management software, the application forms a comprehensive, video-based solution for effective perimeter surveillance and protection.
Designed for easy installation, configuration and management, AXIS Perimeter Defender uses edge-based video analytics for maximum accuracy, efficiency and scalability. The application supports multiple detection scenarios including intrusion detection and loitering. It can also meet the perimeter protection needs of power plants, chemical plants and other targeted installations.“Accurate and consistent perimeter protection is a challenge many organizations face and with the release of AXIS Perimeter Defender we are able to now address those needs,” said Fredrik Nilsson, Vice President, Americas, Axis Communications, Inc. “While the best use of AXIS Perimeter Defender is with thermal cameras as they are able to detect people and objects in the most challenging lighting conditions, even complete darkness, it can also be used with standard network cameras.”
The application comes with intuitive management and setup tools in a single management interface and a dedicated, easy-to-use design tool simplifies the initial system layout and the installation. The central management interface allows operators to configure and manage all analytics-enabled cameras in the network through efficient and time-saving batch operations. In addition, a graphical representation of detection distances ensures that any potential blind spots are eliminated, and the entire perimeter is protected with the highest level of accuracy and consistency.
AXIS Perimeter Defender is based on proven technology from Digital Barriers, a company with extensive experience in surveillance analytics. AXIS Perimeter Defender has also been certified for sterile zone monitoring applications by i-LIDS®, the UK government's benchmark for Video Analytics (VA) systems developed in partnership with the Centre for the Protection of National Infrastructure.
AXIS Perimeter Defender is planned to be available in Q2 2016 at a suggested retail price of $299 per camera through Axis’ standard distribution channels.
