AXIS Video Motion Detection
AXIS Video Motion Detection
Motion detection and recording
- Multiple "include" areas
- Axis False Alarm Filtering
- Quick and easy configuration
AXIS Video Motion Detection 4 is a free video analytics application that is included on most* Axis network cameras and encoders. It adds intelligence to your video surveillance solution by sending alerts when it detects motion from moving objects, such as persons and vehicles, within predefined areas. The application also reduces storage and bandwidth as cameras only record when there is movement.
AXIS Video Motion Detection 4 works in varying lighting conditions, whether indoors or outdoors. It is especially suitable for low-traffic areas such as office corridors, parking lots and unattended shop areas, and for after-hours surveillance.
*all cameras with firmware version 6.50 and later
Detect movement in multiple areas
AXIS Video Motion Detection 4 triggers on moving objects, including people and vehicles, in predefined areas of your choice. You can set it up to trigger alarms when movement is detected in multiple predefined “include” areas.
Multiple profiles
AXIS Video Motion Detection 4 supports multiple profiles for creating multiple configurations; for instance, one configuration for daytime and one for nighttime, or configurations with different “include” areas. Each profile triggers its own alarms and has its own settings.
Fewer false alarms
AXIS Video Motion Detection 4 reduces false alarms by analyzing and disregarding normal background motion. Axis False Alarm Filtering provides an additional layer of defense against false alarms by making it possible to ignore disturbing object motion such as headlights, swaying trees and small animals.
Installation that’s as easy as 1, 2, 3
Installing and setting up AXIS Video Motion Detection 4 is fast and simple.
The application integrates with the camera's event management system, which can respond to an alarm by sending email notifications, streaming video to a video management software system, recording video to edge storage, and setting off external devices through the camera's output ports.
Earlier releases
For products that don’t support AXIS Video Motion Detection 4, AXIS VMD 3 is still available.
