Security Industry Association (SIA) recognizes AXIS Perimeter Defender and AXIS Q61 PTZ Dome Network Camera Series among top new products at ISC West 2016.
Axis Communications, the global leader in network video, announced today that the company secured two wins at SIA’s New Product Showcase (NPS) at ISC West 2016 on April 6. Axis took home the “Video Analytics” award for its new AXIS Perimeter Defender and the “Video Surveillance Cameras IP” for its AXIS Q61 PTZ Dome Network Camera Series.
A scalable and flexible video analytics application for intrusion detection in the enterprise market, AXIS Perimeter Defender can be combined with Axis network cameras, Axis network horn speakers and a third party video management software to offer a comprehensive, video-based solution for effective perimeter surveillance and protection. AXIS Perimeter Defender uses edge-based video analytics for maximum accuracy, efficiency and scalability. AXIS Perimeter Defender runs on the AXIS Camera Application Platform (ACAP), which is an open application platform that allows members of the Axis Application Development Partner (ADP) program to develop applications that can be downloaded and installed on Axis network cameras and video encoders. In addition, AXIS Perimeter Defender is ideal for thermal cameras, which can detect people and objects in the most challenging lighting conditions. The AXIS Q61 PTZ Dome Network Camera Series is designed for the most demanding video surveillance applications. The outdoor-ready cameras offer outstanding, full frame-rate video in resolutions up to 4K, with powerful zoom and high-speed, precision pan/tilt/zoom capabilities that can cover large areas in great detail. The cameras also offer Axis’ unique Speed Dry feature, in which the cameras vibrate to effectively shake off drops of water in rainy weather. In addition, Axis’ Sharpdome technology uses innovative mechanics and a unique dome geometry to provide full scene fidelity and amazingly sharp images in all directions, making the cameras ideal for city surveillance and shopping malls.
“The SIA New Product Showcase Awards recognize security solutions that are reshaping the industry, and we are proud that each of these innovative products was selected,” said Fredrik Nilsson, Vice President, Americas, Axis Communications, Inc. “Both AXIS Perimeter Defender and the AXIS Q61 PTZ Dome Network Camera Series are great examples of how we use customer-driven feedback to shape our product development and design.”
“Each year, the companies competing in SIA’s New Product Showcase at ISC West present the leading-edge security solutions that continually shape our industry,” said SIA CEO Don Erickson. “Axis Communications handily won two awards this year—one for Video Analytics and another for Video Surveillance. This comes as no surprise as Axis is a long-time leader and innovator in IP-networked video cameras. Congratulations on the awards for these new innovations, and SIA looks forward to seeing more new products from Axis in the future.”
This is the third consecutive year that Axis has earned a NPS award win at ISC West. In 2015, Axis’ Zipstream technology, which reduces storage and bandwidth requirements, won in the “Surveillance Advanced Imaging Technologies” category. In 2014, Axis won the “Best in Video Surveillance Hardware and Accessories” for AXIS P5415-E PTZ Dome Network Camera.
Since its inception in 1979, the NPS has been the security industry's premier awards-based marketing program. This year's NPS Program had 99 entries from small, medium and large companies in the security industry.
The NPS judges presented awards in 26 product and service categories, and they also presented six honorable mention awards in eight categories. The full list of award winners can be found by visiting www.sianps.com.
